REDEMPTION
Mark & Suzan Mason met in the 7th grade. By the time they reached high school they were both involved in drug and alcohol abuse. Both Mark & Suzan were arrested several times for charges ranging from drug possession to assault & battery. Mark was kicked out of two high schools and dropped out of a third. Suzan also quit school and at 18, the couple moved into together. The partying only intensified. After a bad LSD trip that landed them both in the hospital – Mark began to see what Satan was doing to his life. Mark’s mother & “Granny” had planted the Word of God firmly in his heart as a child and they never stopped praying for his salvation.
On November 23, 1982, Mark fell on his knees in the couple’s tiny apartment and asked Jesus to save him. Suzan walked in on the ordeal and Mark pulled her down beside him and led her to Jesus as well. They were married soon after and plugged into a great church.
In 1987, Mark went to work as a police officer and later became a detective in Norfolk, Virginia. He actually worked along-side police officers who had arrested him as a teen. Mark eventually became a forensic investigator during the most murderous years in Norfolk's history. He was the lead crime scene detective on 23 homicides and assisted on dozens more. The constant exposure to Satan's handiwork led him to begin working as a volunteer youth at his church in 1991.
Mark and Suzan entered full-time ministry in 1995. Since then, they have served the body of Christ as youth pastors, worship leaders and church planters. They have three grown children who also serve in the ministry, three grandsons (so far!) and three very yippee Chihuahuas!
